Nomination

Responsibility
I am girl eight year old in need of a dog
I have been asking my parent for months now
till yesterday they did something shocking and unthinkable.
They had agreed.
They are going to get a dog not a hamster or a rabbit.
they are going to get me a dog.
After months of leaving them hits and clues and even bring it up at the dinner table
every single night.
After hearing them countless times
“no it much of a responsibly ” or “it a lot of responsibility to have a dog of your own”
but yesterday my parents finally agree that I could handle the responsibility .

Today October 23
orange and yellow leaves
are just about to fall
my mom tells me before we went in the shelter
“we are just looking today, not getting a dog”
giving me a stern look
I agree not to fall in love with the first cute puppy eye that look at me
but
unfortunately for my mom
I do.
He is the shaggiest of them all
The rest looked like they were bath before opening
and they just didn’t have a enough time for him.
His fur is long
so long it hung in front of his eyes so he could not see
as the other we dogs romped around him
He just sat there looking around waiting for someone to pick him
then and there I knew that is the dog for me
Calm, quiet, and didn’t care what the other dogs thought of him
for just sitting there looking around aimlessly .
But I did not voice this opinion to my mother
because today
“we are just looking”
I gently grab him from the doggy playpen.
and sit down on the tile floor.
and he began to snore
he fit so perfectly in my lap
I look at my mom
“I want this one” I said.

His name was Dutch he lived till he was fifteen.
He was blind and old from the day I got him
but I loved him none the less.
He was my
Responsibility.
